Pic of the beach

This is a picture of our beach. It faces east. The island you can see in the background is Tiran island. Mari and Elise can be seen on the nearest sun bed. You can also see how close to shore the reef is here.

The boat trip with the glass bottomed boat was great. The corals an fish here make for some pretty amazing underwater scenes.  was equally impressed by the captains boat handling skills to position us just over corals that were only a few cm under the glass without hitting anything! Tomorrow I'll go snorkeling myself. Elise was just as excited by the prospect of going out in a boat and got slightly distracted by the sight of a climbing frame she spotted on shore and the purple jellyfish we saw while going back to the mooring.

Lion fish

So what have we been doing for the last couple of days. Let's see. Swimming, relaxing, reading, playing interspersed by a few meals.
Elise seems to have charmed the pants of most of the waiter here, who (naturally) all think she's adorable. There has been much playing around with Bigwoof and Radar, her two dogs when we go to eat. Elise has also discovered that she likes Octopus, fried.

Speaking of fish. The fish that we can see from the jetty here are amazingly colored as the oral reefs start just a few meters from the beach. We have seen fish in pretty much all the colors of the rainbow. Yesterday we were lucky enough to see a Lion fish lazily swimming just in front of our feet while out on the jetty.

Still on the subject of fish, i think Elise is turning in to one. Since she in three days has learn how to swim. I must say I was much impressed how quickly that went. So we've been happily swimming all round the pool, jumping off the side without dad catching and even diving under water. She has also gleefully discovered that she can run away from parents who want her to get out of the pool before she turns completely blue by leaping back in and swimming off, the little rascal. I find myself rather torn in those situations between saying "come on it's time to get out", and thinking "good for you". I'm glad she has a good sense of humor.

Later today we're going out in a glass bottomed boat t look at fish and coralls etc. That should bee god fun. I'll report later on what it was like. I'll have to see if I can post some pics.

Sorry haven't blogged for the last evenings. I've been completely immersed in a book trilogy called The Hunger Games.  Wow. Read it.

Will try and write a more interesting post tomorrow :-)

First day here, swimming and belly dancing.

Elise is over the moon about staying here. So much swimming to be had! If she was allowed to, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't come out of the pool for the entire week we're here. In the first day she has dared to go and swim by herself and leaps of the side of the pool presuming we'll catch her. I thing she'll look like a raisin by the and of the week, brown and wrinkly.

It's fun to see how sociable she is playing and flirting with the other guest and staff.

My daughter has also discovered belly dancing. She was completely captivated by the girl who belly danced during dinner this evening and requested that she would also like a dress like the belly dances was wearing. Or should I say lack of dress. Inspired Elise also joined in the belly dancing and even went up and joined in with the girl much to our suppress.

As for the resort I must say we're pretty pleased. The staff are eager to please, our room is nice and the food good. Our room is on the first floor overlooking a small pool. Elise couldn't get over that we had a pool just outside when we arrived (se pic). It took all of five minute before I was roped in to go swimming with her.

Thing that will be all for this evening.

Wifi on board

Wow, having wifi on board the plane is pretty awesome. Makes me realize how far we have come with technology in the past few years.
I can even stream Spotyfy from the plane, cool. I wonder how long it will be before I'm doing the same on my first space flight?

Flying down

Flight down seems to be runing smoothly. Elise is finding it very exciting and is having a hard time sitting still :-)
Thank  goodness for pads and a few episodes of Fireman Sam ;-)

Getting ready

Saturday, the big day. Then we're off to Egypt on our first family holiday. Fun and a bit strange. I've always wanted to go to Egypt because of all the interesting history there. I didn't think my first trip there would be on my first ever all inclusive charter holiday to a tourist resort/trap, Sharm el-Sheik. The point of this little excursion though is for a bit of sun, sea and relaxing. I don't have any expectations for excursions to see lots of stuff. I'm not sure Elise (now 3) will find it terribly interesting.

This is were we'll be staying:
